Here’s a quick guide on how to restore the real you (your true Self!) by following these top tips, as tried-and-tested by a Freedom Coach.
1. UNDRESS AND GET NAKED
The best version of ourselves is right within us. It is unique and we are born with it.
To get to the core of our uniqueness we need to look at ways of undressing down to who we truly are. How? By removing the unsuitable layers that we’ve put on over time. They’ve become uncomfortable to wear and it’s time to let them go.
There are various exercises one can do to help undress and a life coach can support you in this not-so-easy process.
Getting naked is not easy and can take time. It requires a lot of courage to show vulnerability, start anew, restart as an amateur and willingness to learn. Through this process, it is important to support yourself with kindness and increase self-care.
For me, Happiness is reached when I live comfortably and proudly with the bare ME.
After removing the layers that no longer served me, I started dressing myself differently. In ways that would enhance my true Self. I changed my choice of words, beliefs, thoughts, actions, places, and even people, so I could show up as ME.
2. GET OUT OF THE CLOSET
Feeling accepted in society is often a key concern which can stop us from making the most of our lives, even when we totally love what we do.
I love wearing my clothes but are they still in fashion?
I feel passionate about my speech but will they like it?
I adore that music, but will I fit in with the concert crowd?
I was in total flow creating this art piece, but will they appreciate it?
and so on….
We often stop from showing up as ourselves in the fear that others will not feel the same or to please them first, before ourselves.
Unveiling our true Self and practicing Self-love takes effort, then worrying about others appreciating our uniqueness can also be tasking. It’s no surprise most people don’t bother and hide within the boundaries of perceived acceptance.
The trick is to release the fear of judgement and come out of our hiding to connect with the world as the version we were born to be. That’s when magic happens and you start manifesting what you really need and deserve.
3. BE PLAYFUL – FUN SMALL STEPS
You might say: I want to reconnect with my real Self but there’s a long journey ahead of me before I can fully show up as that unique person I owe to be. How am I going to actually do this, when it comes more naturally to stay as I am, having stepped in this other person’s shoes for so long?
The key to my Self-uncovering was to have fun with the process and introduce new habits every day. The road to fulfilment may look long and daunting but when you break it down to enjoyable baby steps in that right direction, the journey becomes the best part. After all, we are all familiar with the quote: “Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life”.
I am a big fan of Tiu De Haan of The Possibility of Wonders, who shares my belief in the power of playfulness. In a recent post she shared her discovery that it takes an average of 66 days to embed a new habit until it no longer requires will power.
She encourages you to try making a challenge into a game where for a period of 66 days you commit to do one new thing (big or small) in at least one of the areas in your life, work, health and creativity. As a Freedom Coach, I learned to detach from what I’d always known to be “true” and face a new game of change to reconnect with the real ME.
4. HEAR THE VOICES AND SEE THE SIGNS
The quest to find our life purpose can become more stressful than it needs to be. The key purpose of life for me is to make the most of the experience and to align our day-to-day living as far as we can to our real self. I feel it is a disservice to my Universal gift of life, to not try at least.
I needed a few pep talks myself before I eventually got my acts together and started building on unthinkable ideas. Do you even hear yourself crashing a dream before you even allowed yourself to dream it: “…but that’s impossible”, “I could never do that” or “..that only happens to them, not me!”
The craziest of ideas and biggest dreams often come from the real you, longing to be free. We often silence our deepest expressions with negative outlooks, until we can’t hear them no more. That’s when the Universe steps in to help with all sorts of extra signs and messages around us.
My tip here is to notice your pattern of negative talk and design a way to eradicate them. Also allow more silence in your life, to hear your Self speak. Try replace some busyness with busyless.
In parallel, become open to the unthinkable and more aware of your surroundings so you can spot the signs.
Some may advise not to share all that comes up for you, to avoid encountering additional constraints and blockages, however I found that talking about my big dreams helped me make them more real, and empower my Self voice.
It also helped me identify and filter-out those anything and people that could get in the way, and make space to connect with new mentors and helpers.
5. LET GO OF HATE AND UNLEASH THE LOVE

I believe love is the essence of who we are and when we make decisions from a place of love, we are led to our core. Practice positive outlook, gratitude and love regularly, towards yourself and everything that makes up the world around you, and you will automatically connect with your YOU.
As you unveil the real you, you find love. And a fresh zest for life.
